'Apna Ghar bachao' literally means "Save your home". An eyeopener for the Karachiites and people responsible for cleaning up this mess.
A personal attempt to signify the growing environmental problems in my country. I'v started with "Sea View", the beach-line of my city Karachi. There is a dire need to clean our beaches, polluted with trash, sewerage and growing commercial development.
Particularly refering to a few localities of my city Karachi. Places such as 'Lyari' and 'Kati Pahari' are infested with Gangs and Mafia. The poor people that make up 99% of such areas are hostages in their own homes. There are times when they have no food for days when Gang wars are raging through the streets.
What is surprising is that the gangs and mafia are laden with the most sophisticated weaponry. Even more advanced then what is available to the Police.
Hundreds of children have died in poverty and of stray bullets. But no one damn cares.The Government, nor the Political parties are interested in solving their issues.
I intend to depict the alarming availability of weapons in our cities despite hungry children running bare feet in our streets with empty bowls in their hands.
Gangs, terrorists, extremists, agencies... what ever conspiracy theory any one has, it includes humans none the less. sons, brothers, fathers, men, who are willing to starve and kill children to let the weapons trade flourish. ...
There are no Green areas in Karachi. Specially our coastal area is devoid of any Green belt. The 'extinct' mongrove trees are fast finishing. No proper distribution of parks for children.
The absence of trees and green life makes the city ugly and concrete.
I hope this poster, though very dark, gives our new generation a sense of the danger they are facing. Hoping that it would make them want to change their surroundings for the better.
We DO NOT vote for those who endorse violence to gain their personal gains. We do not vote for those who believe guns are power. We will not vote for those who slaughter innocents to show that they are on the right. We do not vote for illiterate cowards who portray themselves as leaders.
These posters are meant for the streets. For the street children running around aimlessly in life, for the people stuck in traffic, for pedestrians, labourers, school children.
Please, This is YOUR HOME and only YOU CAN SAVE IT!
